Teething – Let us help you be prepared!
Teething is an exciting milestone for little ones, it is part of their development process but it can also be a challenging time for parent and baby. Let us help you, by sharing some of these tried and tested tips to ease the teething process and make this time a little more manageable for all!
Baby’s first teeth normally start to emerge around the 6 month old mark, but in saying that some babies are born with teeth and can begin cutting through the gums a lot earlier, while others don’t begin to show signs until around 12-18months.
Some of the main symptoms of teething are:
- Excessive to mild Drooling
- Rashes around the chin area
- Trouble Sleeping
- Not being able to settle
- Red cheeks
- Swollen or Inflamed gums
- Chewing and biting on anything they can get their hands on!
Some tried and tested tips:
- A Variety of Teething Toys are a great way to start, providing baby that comfort to chew away on something and you having the reassurance of knowing it is specifically designed to go into their mouth.

Try wetting a clean face washer or cloth with cold water or keeping some clean wet cloths in the fridge on hand to provide instant relief for bub. They can suck and chew on the cold cloth while also it will gently massage their gums. You can also try putting teething rings in the fridge to keep them cool.
- Gentle massage of the gums: Using clean fingers, gently massage baby’s gums to help soothe pain.
- Lots of cuddles and snuggles, sometimes all baby needs is a bit of reassurance, and some extra love and cuddles during this troubling time.
Stay patient, remember to give yourself reassurance too.
This phase will soon pass and won’t be forever. You’re doing great!
