1. Babies Are Born With More Bones Than Adults

Did you know that new born’s have about 300 bones at birth? As babies grow, some of these bones fuse together, leaving adults with 206 bones. It’s just one of the many ways babies change as they grow!

2. New born’s Recognize Their Mother’s Voice

Even before they’re born, babies can hear sounds from the outside world. After birth, they can recognize their mother’s voice almost immediately. It’s one of the reasons talking and singing to your baby is so comforting for them.

3. Babies Have Taste Buds All Over

Babies are born with taste buds not just on their tongue, but also on the sides and roof of their mouth. No wonder they make such funny faces when they try new foods!

New born’s can only see clearly about 8-12 inches in front of them—the perfect distance for gazing up at their parents. Over the next few months, their eyesight sharpens, and they start to see a world full of colour.

Up until about six months old, babies have a natural “dive reflex” that makes them hold their breath and move their arms and legs when submerged in water. Of course, it’s important to always supervise babies around water!

Babies start to smile around six to eight weeks old. These early smiles are a way for them to connect with people and communicate happiness—even before they can talk.
